Now that it is November and we are approaching the colder months of the year, it is time to start bundling up to stay warm. Finding the most worthwhile sweatshirts, jackets, hats, scarves and snowgear can be difficult. Here is a guide to the best places to get winter clothing to stay warm and stylish during the winter months.
Jackets:
When it comes to finding the perfect jacket, quality, price and style all matter. With so many different styles and brands, it is hard to find the ideal jacket. One good option is from The North Face, an outdoor activity clothing brand that is popular for its Women’s Hydrenalite Down Hoodie ($220). Though on the pricier side, it’s worth the investment as it offers excellent warmth, waterproof protection and a hood that shields against harsh winter winds. Similar to this woman’s hoodie, The North Face also sells a Men’s Hydrenalite Down Hoodie, providing the same protection from winds and warmth.
For a slightly lower price, the Women’s Hydrenalite Down Jacket, which doesn’t have a hood, is priced at $190, delivering the same cozy insulation with a sleeker look. Both jackets feature the trendy puffer style, which has remained a staple in winter fashion for the past few years. From these two jackets, I would recommend the hooded version because it is perfect for cold winter winds, while the regular jacket doesn’t have this advantage.
Aritzia is also a popular brand, most known for their puffer coats. They have many different styles, like The Super Puff Hi-Gloss, which also has a matte version, costs $250-275. Both of these are pricey, however, making the North Face jackets more worthwhile, in my opinion.
For a more affordable price, Old Navy sells a Water-Resistant Quilted Long Puffer Jacket, which is usually priced at $84.99 but is on sale right now for $59.49. This is also a waterproof jacket that has a hood for protection from the wind.
Along with normal coats, blazers and trench coats have been a vital part of recent fashion trends. Zara’s many different blazer styles are perfect to wear on a winter day, especially paired with a sweater. The Oversized Double Breasted Blazer costs $79.90, comes in an array of colors and is perfect for layering.
Sweatshirts:
When winter arrives, sweatshirts become a vital part of everyone’s closet. Hollister, a brand owned by Abercrombie & Fitch, is my personal favorite place to buy sweatshirts. Their Oversized Hoodie is sold for $39.95, and it’s my most recommended because of the many different colors available.
These hoodies are also fleece-lined, so they keep me extremely warm during the cold seasons. I highly recommend this hoodie as it is not overly expensive, and provides material and comfort. Like The North Face, Hollister also sells men’s versions of the same sweatshirts, like their Baggy Cinch Hoodie.
Another brand I recommend for sweatshirts is Brandy Melville, which has been trending among a lot of teenagers. Brandy Melville has many different sweatshirt styles ranging from hoodies, crewnecks and zip-ups, most of which cost $45. All three of these things are extremely comforting and warm, which are perfect for the cold winter months.
Accessories:
Winter warmth isn’t just about wearing clothing like sweatshirts and jackets; the right accessories play an important role as well. The North Face doesn’t only have good jackets, but they also have super warm hats. Their Women’s Oh Mega Fur Pom Beanie costs $45, but is a perfect holiday gift, and it comes in seven different colors.
Many cute, trendy scarves are very expensive nowadays, ranging from $40-450 or more. Despite this, Aerie has affordable prices for soft scarves that can go with almost every outfit. They have basic scarf designs like the OFFLINE By Aerie Waffle Blanket Scarf, but also have fun designs like plaid and fuzzy, which all come with fringes. All of these scarves are priced at $34.95, which is a lot more affordable than designer brands, such as Coach, which charge $125-186 for scarves.
As temperatures continue to drop, having the right winter essentials makes all the difference. Whether bundling up in a cozy Hollister hoodie, layering with a North Face puffer or adding a soft Aerie scarf to finish off an outfit, quality pieces can maintain warmth and fashion.
