Senior Reyut Wasserstein thought all of the speakers did a good job in showing their support for Israel.
“There were a lot of different embassy members or important people in Congress so I am glad they showed their support and came,” Wasserstein said.
Other speakers included politicians, community leaders, rabbis and members of law enforcements.
Last Friday, many CESJDS students, faculty and staff along with hundreds of others from the D.C. Jewish community attended a rally sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council, the American Defamation League and the American Jewish Committee along with other organizations in support of Israel and the American Jewish community.
The event took place in Freedom Plaza, which is near the White House and the U.S. Capitol Building. Senior Simon Reich believes its central location and history of activism made it the perfect spot.
“This rally wasn't just in some hidden undisclosed location for fear of any backlash or violence,” Reich said. “I think it is important to show that that real desire to speak out against what is happening and in support of Israel without worrying…without hiding.”
