Field Defeats JDS Boys Varsity Soccer 1-0

The Boys Varsity soccer team’s losing streak continued Thursday as they were defeated 1-0 by The Field School.

The Lions could not seem to get past Field goalie Jake Shoyer, a former JDS student, whose many impressive saves were key to the shutout. This was Shoyer’s first game back at JDS since he transferred to Field a year ago.

A number of his close friends and some family members were there to watch Shoyer in his striking return.

“It was fun to play against people I know and am friends with,” Shoyer said after the game. “It was also very enjoyable playing in front of a lot of my friends from JDS.”

The Lions struggled to get many scoring opportunities, but Sophomore Natan Schoenbaum was able to get through several Field defenders for a clean shot which was saved by Shoyer in the first half.

The Lions were looking to capitalize on a solid first half, something that has seldom happen in this young season, but fell flat after allowing an early second half goal to Field.

The loss was the fourth in a row for the Lions who have yet to even score a goal.

Both the offensive and defensive woes have been attributed by many players to the lack of practice time, something the team hasn’t really found a solution for due to the busy holiday schedule early in the season.

The Lions will look to pick up their first win Wednesday as they face Covenant Life.
