Instead of groaning when I’m told to walk my dog for the umpteenth time, I’m excited to have an excuse to pop in my AirPods and listen to a favorite podcast. Violette can take her time sniffing every patch of grass; I’m getting the chance to have a laugh or learn something new.

Whether you are walking the dog, going to sleep, on an airplane or de-stressing, podcasts are the perfect thing to listen to for entertainment, education and brain distraction. 

Office Ladies

All fans of “The Office” will love this rewatch podcast hosted by Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, who played the characters of Pam Beesly and Angela Martin on the show. Each episode takes the listener through an episode of “The Office” with a mix of behind-the-scenes moments, input from the crew members and the show’s development. This relaxing and lighthearted podcast is great to listen to as some joyful background noise and does not require a lot of focus. 

Get Sleepy

Are you ever wide awake in the middle of the night and just cannot seem to shut off your brain? “Get Sleepy” is a story-telling podcast that can be used as a tool to help you fall asleep. With its relaxing nature sounds and the host’s soothing and low-pitched voice, this podcast puts listeners into a mindful state while hearing a gentle story. 

Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend

From the co-author of the “Freakonomics” books, Stephen J. Dubner discusses various topics ranging from politics to the economics of sleep with experts. Dubner recently began a series on the purpose of college, where he took a deep dive into the history and economics of these institutions with input from several professors and economists. 

Just B with Bethenny Frankel 

Hosted by self-made entrepreneur, author, television star and philanthropist Bethenny Frankel, this podcast features guests from senators to social media influencers. She also rants about pop culture, food, business and more. She brings her witty humor and strong opinions to the table that will have you laughing and thinking that she really does know it all. 

Crime Junkie

If you are a serial true-crime documentary viewer, try this true-crime podcast that analyzes real cases. The hosts describe these cases in a calm yet suspenseful tone which makes it easy to stay engaged. “Crime Junkie”  tells the story through the lens of the victim, keeps personal conversation to a minimum and often shines a light on overlooked cases.
