How Did the JDS Community Spend Their Spring Break?

Ryan Bauman

As spring approached, seventh grader Ryan Bauman and his family prepared for their trip to Florida. Bauman and his family went to visit his grandmother in Florida, whom they visit about once every two years. “I think we’re going deep sea fishing and just going to stay in, probably go to the pool and just relax,” Bauman said before break. Before going to Florida, Bauman had Seder at his house and spent time with his family. After that he spent his days feeling the ocean’s breeze.

Matty Swire

Freshman Matty Swire and his family went to Prague to visit a graduate school friend of his parents. “Our family friend, she owns a forest so we might go and visit her forest for a few days. We’re also going to explore the city,” Swire said, “It is going to be pretty epic.”

Bryan Knapp

While many students were spending the first few hours of their Spring Break basking in their newfound free time, sophomore Bryan Knapp was on a plane to the Holy Land. Knapp’s sister, Samantha, is on the CESJDS senior trip and he visited her over the break. “I like going to Israel because it feels like my homeland and I feel safe there and I also just love the beaches and the experience,” Knapp said.

Ariela Diamond

With a cool breeze and the gentle sound of waves lapping at the shore, the beach creates the picture perfect vacation spot for junior Ariela Diamond. Diamond usually goes to Florida every year with her family to visit her relatives, but this year she is going to be doing things a little bit differently. “I’m actually going down just by myself to meet my extended family down there, but I want to take some friends,” Diamond said. Diamond is hopeful that it will still live up to her expectations.

Mirele Kessous

While most people will be playing by the ocean, relaxing at home or snowboarding down the mountains, CESJDS Librarian Mirele Kessous will be waiting for her first child to be born. “It’s supposed to come April 24th but it could come two week before or two weeks after,” Kessous said. She does not know the baby’s sex, but has picked out two names, one for a boy and one for a girl. Now Kessous just has to wait.
