Varsity girls softball travels to NCSY 4G tournament
The varsity baseball team held its junior night on Monday, April 28, where they capped off the season with a 3-2 victory over the Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy Cougars. Junior Ari Einhorn was the starting pitcher for the Lions. Scoring in the game came late, with the Cougars scoring the first run of the game in the sixth inning. After a pep talk from head coach Mathew Landy, the Lions rallied to put up three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, securing the win. Juniors Jesse Fisher, Ian Liss, Adam Salomon, Caden Mont, Matty Stillman and Einhorn were all honored during and after the game with personalized posters and speeches given by Landy. In the speeches, Landy highlighted the juniors’ best moments and how they had grown as individuals and matured over their high school careers. Stillman has played baseball throughout his middle and high school years at JDS, and seeing previous juniors on their junior nights made him cherish Monday even more. “It was a really awesome experience, and looking back at the two years I've played and seeing the other juniors on junior night and how much it meant to them made it really special for me,” Stillman said. “It would always make me really happy to see how happy they were on the night that was meant for them. That made me really look forward to my junior night, and this year's junior night did not disappoint.”
