Mirabeau is a charming little bakery and cafe with a cozy aesthetic and absolutely delicious offerings. It opened in January 2023, and is about 1.7 miles away from the CESJDS Upper School Campus. They serve a variety of coffees, pastries, sandwiches and other baked goods.
Its environment is very pleasant with a vibrant, bright yellow outdoor space and indoor walls featuring colorful blue and orange abstract designs. There are a few small tables, both outdoors and indoors by the windows, along with a larger cushioned seating space around a coffee table.
I began my meal with the quiche ($7.50), consisting of mushroom, kale, pine nut, caramelized onion, mozzarella and feta cheese. The eggs had a soft, almost creamy texture, and deliciously complemented the other various flavors. The breading was well-defined and crispy, not too thin or dry. It was a super comforting dish overall, and I’d highly recommend this as a savory or breakfast option.
The plain croissant ($4.25) was executed to perfection; it was fresh, flaky, fluffy and had just the right level of butter. They also offer almond and chocolate variants, a must-order for anyone visiting.
For sweet dishes, I started off with the apple strudel ($6). Its apple filling had a cinnamon-heavy taste adjacent to typical Ashkenazi charoset, with the dish’s sweetness mainly coming from the sugary outer layers.
I also ordered a crème brûlée donut ($4.75), a puffy treat which was fully coated with sugar and filled to the brim with the delectable filling. This is another item I believe you absolutely should get here, regardless of personal preferences, as it’s not something you often find at most bakeries.
Mirabeau bakery had wonderful variety, an amazing atmosphere and I was amazed by the consistent quality of almost every dish. Mirabeau is truly an excellent bakery and one that anyone in the Montgomery County area should take the time to visit.
