To honor JDS “legends,” the school hosted an alumni event titled “Legends from the Lion’s Den” that took place on March 30 at the Upper School campus. The event primarily highlighted teachers who have given years of service to the school, and the presentation of the first David Topol (’84) z”l Alumni Leadership Award. Science teachers Nick Miller and Daniella Munteanu were honored as legends, and Dr. Veronique Nussenblatt ('95) was given the leadership award for her outstanding achievements in combating infectious disease and for her commitment to the JDS community. The event was an opportunity for alumni to reconnect with old teachers and friends, celebrate the school’s growth and appreciate the people who make the school special.
As junior Bee Kotler played piano and sang along to “Moving Out” by Billy Joel, they noticed all of the JDS alumni, parents, and current students who clapped along with the beat. “It was a performance that I did before, and I gotta do it again and I got to share it with a wider community, which is really fun,” Kotler said.
