Lions girls and boys take home cross country state championship
The high school boys team competes in the first race of the day. This is their third state championship in the last six years and it was led by sophomore Nathan Szubin and senior David Fritz, who finished first and second respectively. “The anticipation before a race is the hardest part,” sophomore Jonah Berman said.

Before the Maryland Private School Cross Country State Championship race on Sunday, Nov. 13, the cross-country team comes together for a team huddle and pep talk. For the first time in CESJDS history, the high school boys and girls teams became state champions. “Pre-race huddles are one of my favorite parts of race day because the whole team comes together and we are all there for each other,” sophomore Adam Helman said.
