The girls varsity volleyball team defeated the Oakcrest Chargers on Thursday and now holds a two game winning streak.

While the game was delayed about 15 minutes, and there were only 11 spectators in the stands, the team was ready to play.

The game was only three sets long and the Lions won them all. The Lady Lions beat Oakcrest by a landslide in the first set with a score of 25-11. The second set was not quite as easy for the Lions. Oakcrest took the lead in the beginning of the set, but by the end,the score was 26-24 in the Lion’s favor. By this time, the fans in the stand had doubled.

“We fell apart a little bit, and it got a little messy, but we were able to pick it up,” sophomore Sophie Handloff, a starter on the team, said.

The Lions fought for the win in the third set, which ended with a score of 25-19, giving the Lions a decisive victory.

Despite the slim lead that the Lions held in the second and third sets, Handloff expected the win based on Oakcrest’s record. Oakcrest lost to Berman Hebrew Academy (BHA) earlier in the season, while the Lady Lions defeated BHA on Tuesday.

The team hopes to continue their winning streak on Monday against the McLean school.
